Sustainable Living Magazines

There are a growing number of sustainable living magazines available through mainstream newsagents in Australia.  These provide current information about general sustainability topics as well as new products and technologies that come onto the market. Many have a focus on helping consumers make informed purchasing and lifestyle decisions.

Sustaining our Towns has purchased a year-long subscription of a number of these magazines for libraries  across the south eastern NSW region.  These should be available in libraries from May 2011.

Australian sustainability magazines

A great local magazine is Sustain.  This is produced quarterly by the Australian Communities Network, Clean Energy for Eternity and the SCPA (South Coast Producers).  The magazine is available free in selected cafes and stores around the south eastern NSW region. Contact the publishers directly to subscribe.

Green Magazine has a strong architecture and design focus.  They are offering a free trial digital edition.

Sanctuary Magazine also has a strong architecture and design focus.

Renew is produced by the Alternative Technology Association.  It features the latest in sustainable building practice, alternative fuels and the latest renewable energy technology such as solar, wind, micro-hydro and geothermal.

G Magazine has a wide range of sustainable living articles and stories covering topics from food through to natural cleaning.

Most people will have seen the ABC’s Organic Gardener on the shelves of their supermarket or newsagency.
