Moruya Sustainability Hub

Sustaining our Towns investigated the feasibility of establishing a sustainable business hub in the Eurobodalla on the NSW south coast.  The Moruya Sustainability Hub aims to establish and support enterprises oriented around the use of reclaimed materials including glass, timber, fabric/textiles, furniture, appliances, bikes, lawnmowers and small-scale machinery. Here is the final report into this project from March 2012: MORUYA SUSTAINABILITY HUB final report

Discussion Paper: Creating Opportunity from the Waste Stream

The Moruya Sustainability Hub project has now undertaken research into the feasbility of establishing a sustainable business hub in the south east. This has included scoping out priority materials streams, technical requirements, organisational management options, potential sites and potential funding sources.  The research has been put together into the Creating Opportunity from the Waste Stream Discussion Paper (note: 2.6MB PDF).

Moruya Sustainability Hub Forum (8 March 2012)

The Moruya Sustainability Hub project is convening a Forum around the Discussion Paper on the evening of 8 March 2012 at 5:30pm.  To read the Discussion Paper and find out more about the forum you can go to the new blog. You can also provide any comments, enquiries and feedback to Fiona Whitelaw at

South East Resource Transformation (SERT)

As a first step in implementing the recommendations in the  ‘Creating Opportunities from the Waste Stream’ Discussion Paper, a local assocation called ‘South East Resource Transformation’ (SERT) has been established.  This organisation will provide the umbrella body for the continued development of a local sustainable business hub beyond the life of the Sustaining our Towns project, which is due to end on 30 March 2012. Membership of this exciting new organisation will be sought from late February and at the March forum.

See the new South East Resource Transformation (SERT) website at South East Resource Transformation.
