Unfortunately the project in the Snowy River Shire was never quite realised which was certainly not due to a lack of enthusiasm or interest on the part of the community or council staff, all of whom were very keen. Time, staff changes and over-commitment on the part of some key players were the main obstacles.

A brochure about Treading Lightly in the Snowies was produced and used at an event early in 2011.

Sustaining Our Towns is delighted to announce that the ‘ Keep the Snowies Snowy’ Project is the successful recipient of the Sustaining Our Towns $10,000 Local Sustainability Project. Sustaining Our Towns’ support will be used to run an education and awareness campaign to help support tourism & retail operators in the Snowies to be more energy efficient & sustainable and to target visitors in the Winter.
