Sustainability – Our Community, Our Future.
To demonstrate our commitment to our communities, Sustaining Our Towns is supporting various inspiring, local sustainability projects across the 13 shires in our region.
List of Community Projects
Communities across 11 shires in South Eastern NSW have received approval for a total of $110,000 worth of support for local sustainable projects from Sustaining Our Towns. The following is a list of successful projects. Click on your region on the tabs on the left to find out more detail and updates on their progress.
- Bega Valley: The Crossing Land Education Trust Community Workshop Centre – Sustainability Education Enhancements.
- Bombala: Platypus Country Communities – Learning From Each Other.
- Cooma-Monaro: Cooma North Sustainability Survey (Monaro Energy & Sustainability Matters)
- Eurobodalla: Establishment of Narooma District Community Gardens.
- Goulburn-Mulwaree: Survey and awareness-raising of need for recycling amongst 300 businesses in central Goulburn.
- Palerang: Developing the Palerang Action Network for Sustainability & Switching to Lower Power Bills.
- Queanbeyan City: Community Gardening Resource Centre.
- Snowy River: Treading Lightly in the Snowies/ Keep the Snowies Snowy.
- Upper Lachlan: Community sustainability education through power meters promotion, school education program at primary level and launch of local biodiesel bus.
- Yass Valley: Establishment of a community garden.
- Young: Community education program on reducing home energy use with a power meter loan scheme and dedicated sustainability noticeboard in the town centre; as well as support for a community garden.
