Sustaining our Towns

Business Program

Sustainability – it’s starting with me at my place.

Big or small, the Sustaining our Towns project was focused on helping businesses reduce waste, energy, water, save money and build a sustainable future.

Future News:

Monday 26th March 2012

Under Sustaining Our Towns we undertook energy assessments of Council facilities including swimming pools, depots, admin buildings etc.  Reports were developed recommending upgrade actions at these facilities, with estimated costs and savings identified.

Mark Fleming is currently working on an application for the Community Energy Efficiency Program to implement the main upgrades that were identified in the energy efficiency reports, as well as a part time person to co-ordinate these works across the Councils involved. The application will be placed through SEROC who are supportive of it as a regional Council efficiency project, and if successful the grant will most probably be administered through Eurobodalla Shire Council as they host/administer SEROC.

Our Focus

We were particularly focused on working with small to medium sized enterprises that presented good opportunities for energy and water savings.  They included :

  • Independent grocers
  • Clubs (RSL, bowling and other) and
  • Aged care facilities
  • Butchers
  • Hotels & motels
  • Cafes & restaurants
  • Retail stores.
