What is sustainability? With so many definitions of sustainability around, we thought the best way to definine sustainability was to ask our community.

Sustainability is…

Sustainability requires…

  • Passionate individuals to communicate the message, create understanding and engage the wider community. (Palerang)
  • Communication + cooperation = cohesion. (Harden)
  • Sustainability comes first – it’s the underlying principle of decision-making. (Snowy River)
  • Long-term thinking – consider the ‘bigger picture’. (Upper Lachlan)
  • Closed-loop self-sufficiency. (Eurobodalla – Moruya)
  • Sustainability starts at home. (Cooma-Monaro)
  • Community-based and driven change. (Bombala)
  • Improving the present for future generations. (Yass Valley)
  • Practical measures to protect and enhance small communities. (Boorowa)
